Kathleen R. Brennan is trained by the EMDR Institute and utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) based on a client's treatment needs and goals. EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that was originally developed to help people process past traumatic memories and events.
An evidenced-based therapy, EMDR helps clients heal from disturbing life events that impact the here-and-now. EMDR targets a wide range of events that include traumatic events (natural disasters, combat, accidents, physical abuse, sexual abuse) to distressing and disturbing events (victim of bullying, emotional abuse). Any experience that makes you feel unloved, unsafe, humiliated or abandoned can have a long-lasting effect that impacts today. Presenting issues that EMDR can target (but not limited to) include: social anxiety, dysfunctional relationship patterns, low self esteem, fear of abandonment, addictions, grief, chronic pain.
